Village Missions

  • A home Mission dedicated to the evangelization of rural America.
  • A source of carefully screened, trained, spiritual leaders for rural churches. Leadership is full time, subsidized by the Mission as needed, to enable the development of a vigorous, growing, and eventually self-supporting community church program.
  • Serving in the U.S.A. and Canada since 1948, Village Missions sends leadership to those closed or struggling churches that are most in need of outside help to sustain a viable ministry in places others are not reaching.
  • Our pastor is a member of Village Missions and our church, which is now self-supporting, has a part in this vital work across America.

"Our Ties" With Village Missions

Lake Spokane Community Church is tied with Village Missions, who helped support Pastor Bob and Ruth when they first came to the Suncrest area. Because of their help, the Church now gives back to Village Missions in order to further their ministry.

Village Missions conducts a missionary ministry in a local church context by placing full-time leadership in rural North America. Each missionary is appointed for an unspecified period of time, ministering in a given location as the Lord directs. Wives are also considered qualified missionaries, but must balance their ministry with family responsibilities.

Churches served by Village Missions usually fall into one of three categories:

  • Minimum base support congregations in need of leadership
  • Small struggling groups unable to realize their full potential without financial and leadership assistance
  • A totally new work

The objective is to reach the entire community; therefore, denominational issues are avoided. Missionaries are encouraged to extend their ministries beyond the community of their residence through visitation, home Bible studies, and other opportunities.

The aim is to provide a Christ-centered community church program capable of involving the entire population of a local community. The missionary is to become an integral part of community life, winning the friendship and confidence of the people. He is to be the spiritual leader, providing opportunity for all to hear and respond to the Gospel.
